Marketplace seller fees & commission explained in India

Understand Amazon, Flipkart, Meesho, Myntra and Snapdeal seller cost components, compare your actual rate cards and avoid treating commission as the total cost.

Reviewed 2 November 2026 · Educational fee framework, not a live rate calculator.

Commission is one line in the settlement

A marketplace’s headline commission does not tell you the final payout or profit on an order. Read the full commercial terms for your category, price band, fulfilment model and seller account. Promotions, returns and logistics can change the outcome.

MarketplaceWhat to inspectCurrent official source
Amazon IndiaReferral, closing, weight handling and any applicable fulfilment or other programme fees. Rates depend on category, product price and fulfilment choice.Amazon fees & pricing
FlipkartCommission, fixed fee, collection and shipping components. The seller dashboard is the source for the rates applicable to your account and product.Flipkart fees & commission
MeeshoRead the supplier panel’s commercial terms and settlement deductions, including shipping, returns and applicable taxes. A commission headline alone is not a full margin calculation.Meesho supplier portal
MyntraRead your commercial agreement for category and service charges, fulfilment model and any applicable growth enablement terms. Do not use a generic commission percentage as your account’s rate.Myntra partner information
SnapdealCheck the commercial terms attached to your account, including campaign conditions and logistics or return treatment. Verify any advertised commission claim against its conditions.Snapdeal seller portal

A comparison worksheet that stays useful

  1. Choose the same product and packed dimensions for each marketplace.
  2. Write down the selling price and the tax treatment used in the report.
  3. Record each fee by its actual settlement heading.
  4. Add product cost, packaging, optional advertising and expected return-related costs.
  5. Compare net contribution using a consistent basis rather than comparing only commission.

Illustrative arithmetic, not a platform quote

If a hypothetical sale produces ₹800 after the selling-price basis is chosen, with ₹430 product cost, ₹20 packaging, ₹110 marketplace/logistics deductions, ₹30 advertising and ₹40 return provision, the remaining contribution is ₹170. These are invented teaching numbers, not fees charged by any particular marketplace. Your accounting and tax treatment may change the calculation.

When should you check the rate card again?

Review your current account notice before a new campaign, a price-band change, a fulfilment switch or a major packaging change. Look at the notice’s effective date rather than assuming the publication date applies immediately. Keep a dated copy of the terms you use for costing.

No universal rate table is published here because current category and account-specific rates need verification in the official seller dashboard. This page does not provide tax or financial advice.
